Rain delays to help defending champion

(Observer (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic could be the big beneficiaries of a backlog of matches in week two after rain interrupted play at Wimbledon yesterday. Last year's finalists will have the luxury of playing as planned, tomorrow and then Wednesday, while others, including the Australian Open champion, Stan Wawrinka, may be forced to play on three consecutive days. Wimbledon is the only one of the four grand slam events that does not play on the middle Sunday. Wawrinka's third-round match against Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan was postponed because of rain, leaving the Swiss forced to return tomorrow, with the prospect of matches on Tuesday and Wednesday to follow.
