Credit union to sell off repossessed vehicles [Sun Sentinel :: ]

(South Florida Sun Sentinel (FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 18--BrightStar Credit Union, one of the area's largest credit unions, is ready to sell up to 70 repossession vehicles.

The Sunrise-based credit union will hold a Repo Used Car Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Volunteer Park, 12050 W. Sunrise Blvd., Plantation.

The repossessed used cars, SUVs and trucks include late-model vehicles such as a 2013 Nissan Sentra SR, 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer and a 2011 Cadillac Escalade. Prices will be listed on the vehicles; there will be no haggling.

The credit union will offer financing as low as 1.8 percent -- what Sam Chesser, BrightStar vice president of marketing, called "competitive interest rates." The cars will be sold as-is. Any factory warranties for newer cars will be passed on to the new buyers. Trade-in are welcome.

"This is a great way to help our members and others in our community find quality cars at affordable prices," Chesser said.

Repo rates have been declining nationwide for banks and credit unions in the last year, according to Detroit-based Automotive News that reports on the automotive industry.

Sixty-day delinquencies, which are likely to be written off as bad loans, were 0.5 percent of the total car loans, according to Automotive News.
