Etihad Airways announces new senior appointments [Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates)]

(Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, announced five senior appointments in operations, marketing and guest experience, as part of the progressive realignment of the business to the Etihad Aviation Group structure announced last month.

The new structure marks the transition from a single entity airline to a wider global aviation group. It distinguishes the functions relating purely to Etihad Airways and those which support the growth and success of its subsidiaries, joint venture companies and equity partners.

Rick Allen joins Etihad Airways from Air Canada to become senior vice-president of operations, and will be responsible for flight operations, guest services, crew resources, operations logistics, and operations standards. He will assume responsibility as flight operations post holder this summer.

James Hogan, president and chief executive of Etihad Airways, said: "I am delighted to announce these important appointments as we transition Etihad Airways into the Etihad Aviation Group. The operations role is critical to the operation of the airline and I am very pleased we have been able to appoint an internationally experienced operations executive in Rick Allen." Chris Youlten has been appointed to the newly-created position of senior vice-president of airport and network operations, reporting to the chief operating officer. He was formerly vice-president of network operations, at Etihad Airways. Andrew Ward will be acting in the new position of senior vice-president marketing, following his role as vice-president marketing, reporting to the chief operating officer when appointed.

Fiona Morrisson has been appointed vice-president of guest experience at the Midfield Terminal. In this new position, Morrison will design and support delivery of the guest experience for the Midfield Terminal. Calum Laming has been appointed vice-president of guest experience. He returns to Etihad Airways having held the executive position of general manager of customer experience in Air New Zealand since March 2013.

New GM for Cyprus Meanwhile, Etihad Airways has appointed Abdelrahman Abdullah Al Madhloum Al Suwaidi as its new general manager for Cyprus.

Al Suwaidi will lead the further development of Etihad Airways' commercial strategy in Cyprus, ensuring the continued success of the airline's business in the eastern Mediterranean region.

An Emirati national, Al Suwaidi joined Etihad Airways as sales manager in 2013 and previously held sales leadership positions within prominent property and travel companies across the UAE.
