BlackBerry selling most of Canadian properties [Asian News International]

(Asian News International Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Johannesburg, Mar.22 (ANI): BlackBerry has announced that it was selling most of its Canadian properties and would lease back some space after the sale.

The struggling smartphone maker revealed that the deal included three million square feet of space as well as vacant land.

The buyer hasn't been identified, but the deal is set to close in the coming months, Fin 24 reports.

Once a thriving smartphone maker, BlackBerry lost its market share after strong competition from Apple and Google.

The smartphone maker, under the leadership of CEO John Chen, has been trying to revive some of its market share by incorporating varied strategies.

Some of the strategies for a turnaround include making the exclusive BBM messenger service available to third-party platforms and outsourcing its handset production to Foxconn to focus more on software and services, the report added.
