(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) HARRISBURG, Pa., March 13 -- Gov. Tom Corbett, R-Pa., issued the following news release: Governor Tom Corbett today announced the appointment of a new chairman to the Pennsylvania e-Health Partnership Authority - David F. Simon, executive vice president and chief legal officer at Jefferson Health System, Inc.

"With more than 30 years of managing the regulation and policy behind complex healthcare issues, I am confident that Mr. Simon is the right choice to serve the Authority," Corbett said. "As we strive to increase access to quality, affordable healthcare in Pennsylvania, Mr. Simon can provide the direction and expertise to help us create a more connected and vibrant ehealth network." In his role at Jefferson, Simon is the chief legal, corporate governance and government relations officer and is responsible for all system-wide payer contracting and relations. He is also president and CEO of the Accountable Care Organization of Pennsylvania, a group of doctors, hospitals, and health care providers working together with Medicare to deliver high-quality, coordinated care and spend healthcare dollars more wisely.

Simon has a distinguished career overseeing healthcare quality, administration and regulatory affairs. He has served as director and secretary of the Pennsylvania Healthcare Quality Alliance, member of the Pennsylvania MCARE Commission, and as the former chief counsel of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.

Created by law on July 5, 2012, the Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority replaced the Pennsylvania eHealth Collaborative, and works toward improving healthcare delivery and healthcare outcomes in Pennsylvania by providing leadership, strategic direction and investments in health information technology and health information exchange initiatives. The collaborative is also charged with coordination of ehealth projects statewide.
