DUBLIN --(Business Wire)--

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/42544c/global_digital) has announced the addition of the "Global Digital Media & Technology Report Series - Forecasts to 2017" report to their offering.

Global digital & alternative (D&A) media operator revenues - including advertising and marketing - increased 13.4% in 2012 to $226.03 billion, driven by strong growth worldwide, primarily in the internet and mobile media platforms, broader expansion across D&A media channels in leading markets and growth that over-indexed global averages in Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC).

Key drivers of emerging media gowth in the 2007-12 period included growing broadband and mobile device penetration, increased usage of social networks, expanded media consumption outside homes, and two years of record media spending infusions due to major quadrennial events. Despite the sharp deceleration in D&A media growth in 2009 due to the global economic recession, D&A media operator revenues expanded at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.7% in the 2007-12 period, substantially outpacing traditional media and GDP growth worldwide.

Rapid growth acceleration following the Great Recession drove D&A media's share of total media revenues worldwide to 22.9% by year-end 2012, up from 13.3% in 2007. D&A media's strong growth continued amid a significant deceleration in major global economies in 2012, particularly in the second half, including key growth markets Brazil and China. Global D&A ad revenues grew 15.6% to $89.66 billion in 2012. Internet advertising was the largest global ad platform, while mobile ads posted the fastest growth.
