(Times of Oman Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Muscat: Oman Air said that its chief executive officer, Wayne Pearce, has decided to leave the airline on February 28, after serving it for more than two years.  "Working with Oman Air's board of directors, Wayne Pearce has done an excellent job of steering the airline through a key phase of our development. Following a period of rapid expansion, all the vital elements are now in place for the next phase of our growth, whilst also safeguarding continued increase in passenger numbers," said Darwish bin Ismael bin Ali Al Balushi, the chairman of Oman Air.

"Pearce leaves us after introducing higher frequencies on a number of key routes, increasing revenue and passengers' numbers and improving our on time performance." "On behalf of all my colleagues on the board of directors and the staff of Oman Air, I would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for the contribution Pearce has made to Oman Air's ongoing success and we wish him well in his next role," added Al Balushi, who is also the Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs.

"Oman Air shall remain committed to its strategic priorities while the search for a new CEO takes place. These include pursuing the expansion plan, maintaining the highest standard of service both in quality and safety, promoting Oman as one the best tourism and investment destinations and developing human resource capital in the aviation and airline sectors."  "It has been both a pleasure and an honour to manage Oman Air through this crucial stage of its development. I would like to thank the chairman and the board for their support and to the staff at every level of Oman Air for the efforts they put in throughout my tenure as the CEO. I am pleased to have played a role in ensuring that Oman Air is now a more professionally capable airline, while maintaining a clear focus on delivering the highest quality standards in all areas of the airline's operations," added Wayne Pearce. The service ethos of the company is now much stronger.  "I am pleased that we have been able to gain a major increase in our passenger seat factor to the tune of 76 per cent whilst achieving over 30 per cent growth in loads with a 16 per cent increase in our seats. Our yields have also grown and last year Oman Air carried five million passengers," he added.  Wayne Pearce joined Oman Air in January, 2012 and brought a wealth of industry experience to his role, gaining in a range of positions in  travel and aviation businesses across Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
