Restaurant Manager POS Users Boost Revenue with RM for iPad

SILVER SPRING, Md. --(Business Wire)--

Action Systems, Inc. (ASI), makers of the Restaurant Manager Point-of-Sale System and long-time leaders in mobile POS solutions for restaurants, today announced that diverse restaurant concepts around the world -- from a busy night spot in Toronto to a high tech burger joint in North Carolina -- are now running Restaurant Manager v18 software on the iPad and iPad Mini. The announcement highlights the latest addition to ASI's wireless POS offerings and marks a ten-year milestone in a mobile POS product line that was first launched in 2003.

"Restaurant Manager is hardware agnostic," explains Alex Malison, CEO of Action Systems. "The system is designed to be flexible and customizable so that it fits the way independent restaurateurs do business. Our software can run on any traditional touchscreen terminal or a tablet like the iPad, iPad Mini, or Android (News - Alert) tablets. As demand for iPad POS solutions has grown, more and more Restaurant Manager users have decided to convert their systems."

"We love that we have options," says James Hobbs, Manager of Tap & Tankard, a restaurant, bar, and nightlife destination in Whitby, Ontario and longtime Restaurant Manager user. Tap & Tankard worked with leading Restaurant Manager dealer, Teletec Systems Inc. to launch two iPad Minis running the Restaurant Manager POS software to mobilize their wait staff over the busy St. Patrick's Day weekend. "Our serves were walking around, interacting with guests, and they were able to enter orders right then and there," says James. "Sometimes a runner would bring customers their drink order while the waitress was still talking to them."

The use of mobile POS at Tap & Tankard not only helped reduce wait times and improve customer satisfaction, it increased upselling as well. "Say you order a burger," said James. "The POS comes up with all the upsells at tableside--different cheese, add mushrooms, and so on. It made a big difference in glasses of wine; servers were prompted to offer a nine ounce glass instead of six and that increased our average checks." With the help of Restaurant Manager, Teletec Systems Inc., and the iPad Mini, Tap & Tankard saw sales increases of 15%-20% a night. They plan to invest in more iPad Minis in the coming weeks so they will have one for every server by the time they open their outdoor patio for summer.

Restaurant Manager has long been a leader in mobile POS solutions with features like the Write-On Handheld wireless ordering and payment system for the iPod Touch, and the RM Monitor remote reporting app. "We are very excited about the possibilities for restaurants using tablet solutions," says Jay Shavitz, Product Manager at Action Systems. "Running the full POS software is just the beginning for iPad POS. Restaurants will see major increases in top line revenue from new customer facing technology currently in development as a native app for iPad, iPad Mini, and smartphones." ASI plans to launch these new mobile POS solutions as part of its v19 software, set to be released later this year.
