Huawei Ranks No. 3 in Global Smartphone Market Q4 2012Feb 18, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China-based mobile phone manufacturer Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. sold a total of 27.2 million smartphones in 2012, up 73.8% year on year and ranking No. 3 in global smartphone market for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2012. However, the company was still far lagged behind Samsung Electronics and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) that ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in global smartphone market. According to the global mobile report newest released by market research company Gartner, the sales volume of smartphones continued dropping globally in 2012 and reduced by 1.7% compared with that recorded in 2011. Smartphone remained the driving force of mobile phone sales. During the fourth quarter of 2012, a total of 207.7 million smartphones were sold in the world, up 38.3% year on year.
