Android TV dongle, anyone? [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) FREE-TO-AIR terrestrial TV or pay subscription satellite channels Are there alternatives for Malaysians The Egreat Android 4.0 TV Stick H5, which is basically a PC-on-a-Stick, may be an option. You basically just plug into your TV's HDMI port. It boasts a dual-core 1GHz A9 processor that is accompanied by 1GB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, Android operating system, a host of video and audio files, built-in FLAC lossless compression music player, Full HD video transmission and and wireless network support. This hails from a company in China so do not expect a comprehensive user manual should you decide to pick it up from your local computer store. Egreat plans to deliver the Android 4.0 TV Stick H5 to the worldwide market. Hardy shooters WHEN it comes to digital cameras, there are not many rugged versions of the dSLR. The challenge is ensuring that the sensitive parts inside will work perfectly even under extreme conditions. Compact digital cameras, however, have seen their fair share of rugged shooters, although the designs have not been all that stunning.

Nikon, however, may have just what you need. Its two new outdoor models, Coolpix AW110 and AW110s, are specially built for strength and durability. They are waterproof to a depth of 18 metres and offer advanced shooting support functions.

These new models replace the first tough, waterproof, and cold- proof Nikon shooters, the Coolpix AW100 and AW100s.

Features include a 5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, a backside illumination CMOS sensor at 16-megapixels, integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, shock-proof (up to two metres) and able to work under freezing situations (up to about -0[degrees]C).

You will find a plethora of sensors accompanying these shooters such as an altimeter, a depth gauge and atmospheric pressure which show up on the camera monitor, built-in GPS and a 3-inch OLED display.

There are five different colours, including my favourite, a camouflage pattern. The cameras are also capable of full HD video recording. New iPad is twice as fast APPLE will be bumping up the amount of memory on the fourth generation iPad to a whopping 128GB, placing it on par with the majority of the Ultrabooks out there.

The new capacity will be applied across the board, including the iPad with Wi-Fi and iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular.

The rest of the hardware specifications on the refreshed iPad remains the same. We will still get the same 9.7-inch Retina display, running on an Apple-designed A6X chip, accompanied by a FaceTime HD camera, and iOS 6.1 as operating system. This larger capacity fourth generation iPad will be made available from Feb 5 in black or white. Smartphone with 4G LTE speeds Samsung's latest smartphone, Galaxy Express, is a 4G LTE device. It's actually one of the more affordable 4G LTE smartphones in the market, assuming it makes its way here to Malaysia.

With this phone, sharing is a whole lot easier, thanks to AllShare Play which enables device-to-device remote sharing across Samsung Smart TV and Smart mobile devices.

The inclusion of S Beam lets you touch and transfer favourite files through the simple gesture of touching another compatible device.

Notable connectivity options include Mobile High Definition Link (MHL) and Near Field Communication (NFC).

Hardware specifications include a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash at the back, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

It may look like a Galaxy S3 variant at first glance but they are very different creatures. (c) 2013 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
