BRIEF: Blind man charged in burglary released from jailFeb 01, 2013 (The Augusta Chronicle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A blind man arrested on a charge of burglary was released from jail Friday on his own recognizance. The Augusta Chronicle DNA linked Derrick Calloway, 49, to a beer can left at the scene of a Sept. 20 burglary at a Paine College baseball office. A computer, balls and gloves were stolen from the ransacked office, Assistant District Attorney Laura Stewart said Friday in Richmond County Superior Court. Calloway's DNA was in the state's databank because of his prior criminal convictions: burglary in 1984, 1985, 1988, 1990 and 1994; theft in 1996, 1997 and 2005; and entering an auto with intent to commit a crime in 2010.
