The Fayetteville Observer, N.C., Live Wire column

Dec 03, 2012 (The Fayetteville Observer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Q: There was an article in the paper three or four weeks ago about a woman who helped people over 55 to find employment. How can I get in contact with her -- L.L., Hope Mills A: You're talking about Ann Johnson of the Cumberland County Senior Community Services Employment Program.

The program provides part-time employment opportunities in community service activities for unemployed low-income people who are 55 or older. The program says the job assignments allow people to develop their skills, receive paid training and build their confidence to secure unsubsidized positions. It says they also meet the needs of local nonprofit and public organizations and contribute to the general welfare of the community.

The Cumberland County program also serves seniors in Robeson, Moore, Lee, Bladen and Richmond counties.

You can reach it, and Johnson, at 321-6449 or 321-6575.

If you're 55-plus -- or younger -- and seeking help in obtaining full-time employment, contact the Workforce Development Center instead. Its number is 323-3421.

Q: Are there any Army posts besides Fort Bragg that have airborne units, either in this country or overseas If so, can you list them -- R.C., Brenham, Tex.

A: While Fort Bragg has paratroopers galore, it does not have the monopoly.

Most Fort Bragg soldiers wear either the maroon beret of airborne soldiers or the green beret of Special Forces, who must be airborne-qualified.

The tan berets of Rangers, who can parachute into combat, are found at Fort Lewis, Wash.; Fort Benning, Ga.; and Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.

Besides Fort Bragg, Green Berets are based at Fort Campbell, Ky.; Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington; Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; and Fort Carson, Colo. They also are found in units of the Army National Guard.

U.S. paratroopers are based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska and Caserma Ederle (Camp Ederle) in Vicenza, Italy.

Q: Can you give a snail-mail address for Rush Limbaugh He never answers his phone when I call. -- R.O., Raeford A: We suspect the radio talk show host won't answer your letter, either, since he probably gets a ton of them.

But you'll have the satisfaction of sending him your thoughts. Write him in care of Premiere Radio Networks, 15250 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91403. Or email him at
