Man, 18, charged with wanton endangerment, fleeing from policeRICHMOND, Nov 08, 2012 (Richmond Register - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- An 18-year-old Fike Road man was still behind bars Wednesday evening after Richmond police say he endangered the lives of other drivers when he drove recklessly in an attempt to evade a traffic stop. Dustin A. Kaylor was charged Monday with first-degree fleeing or evading police, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving and improper start from a parked position. "At approximately 2:26 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle being driven by Kaylor accelerate abruptly from the traffic light at Four Mile Road and the Robert R. Martin Bypass, squealing his tires in the process," Chief Larry Brock said in an RPD news release. As the vehicle crossed the inclined intersection heading north, it became airborne, according to Brock. The RPD officer turning on his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to perform a traffic stop, but Kaylor's vehicle was traveling an estimated 80 to 90 mph and the officer lost sight of it near Cimarron Road on Four Mile Avenue, according to the release. "A short time later, the officer observed the vehicle again on East Irvine Street and again attempted a traffic stop," Brock said. Kaylor's vehicle turned onto K Street, accelerated to Four Mile Avenue and turned left, crossing the railroad tracks before stopping in the 200 block of Four Mile Road near the fire training center, Brock said. Several vehicles were forced off the road by Kaylor's erratic driving, Brock added. Two adult men and a 17-year-old girl were in the vehicle with Kaylor, according to the RPD. The men were released and the juvenile was turned over to a parent. Couple charged with burglary, theft after incident at Walmart A woman previously banned from Walmart premises now faces a felony burglary charge after police say she and another person tried to shoplift nearly $600 in merchandise from the Richmond store. Katherine E. Parker, 22, Blue Grass Drive, was charged Tuesday with third-degree burglary. Adam W. McManus, 31, South Keeneland Drive, also was charged with theft (more than $500) in the same incident. An officer was sent to the Richmond Walmart at 6:30 p.m. after receiving a complaint about shoplifting, according to an RPD news release. When he arrived, the officer was told store employees saw Parker and McManus concealing merchandise on themselves. Shortly after that, McManus left the store and was detained by the officer. "Several items of stolen property were recovered from the area where he was stopped by police," the release stated. Parker left the store next, and when Walmart employees tried to stop her, she fled on foot before being detained by the RPD officer, according to the release. The officer reported finding more stolen items on Parker. The officer determined that the couple had stolen a total of $597.41 from the store, according to the release. Parker had previously been issued a trespass warning and banned from the store due to a previous shoplifting incident, which resulted in her receiving the more serious burglary charge. Tools, other items reported stolen Thousands of dollars in tools were stolen earlier this week from an unlocked van, according to a Richmond Police Department news release. A complainant told police Monday that the tools, worth $3,000, were stolen from the vehicle some time Sunday morning while he was working in a home in the 500 block of Westover Avenue. The items reported stolen were a Dewalt four-piece tool set, two yellow Fluke D-snip scissors, a red and black backpack, a blue RG (coaxial cable) universal compression tool, two blue Ideal punch down tools, a blue Ideal RG6 stripper, two green Greenlee screwdrivers, a green Greenlee hole saw, two pliers, a blue Ideal compression tool, a blue Ideal RJ45 crimper, a blue Ideal datacom wire stripper, a yellow can wrench, a yellow phone test set, two phone line testers, a blue and gray cable tone, a yellow Fluke cable IQ tester and miscellaneous connectors. Other thefts: --A resident in the 1000 block of East Irvine Street reported Monday that two bicycles had been stolen that morning from the balcony outside his apartment. The bikes, worth $186, are a red and black Huffy bicycle with a Schwinn seat and a pump attached and a girl's white and pink Huffy or Next bicycle with a Schwinn seat. --A student reported Monday that her white iPhone 4 had been stolen from her bag during the late morning hours while it was in the cafeteria at Clark-Moore Middle School.
