Huawei Sets up 1st eMBMS CenterSHENZHEN, Aug 08, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. announced on August 7 that it set up an eMBMS (enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) innovation center in Shenzhen. The center is to be engaged in research on eMBMS end-to-end solutions and to seek for more LTE applications in mobile broadband field. Huawei eMBMS innovation center will focus on eMBMS-supported video-on-demand (VOD) and information push. In addition to enriching LTE applications, the new center will prompt development of eMBMS industrial chain covering chips, terminals and network equipments. Based on 3GPR9 protocol, eMBMS is an enhanced Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service technology as well as one of the most effective video carrying technologies in the mobile sector. Compared with the last generation of MBMS video carrying technology, eMBMS can support a higher bandwidth, which means it can provide more channels and video contents.
