Arrested for Illegal Entry at NBA Finals

MIAMI, FL, Jul 16, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- When the Miami Heat Won the fourth game of the NBA Finals, two ticketholders were arrested when they allegedly tried to gain access to an area for the media by displaying fake credentials.

They'd never have gotten that far if American Airlines Arena used ePass.

Arena security ultimately worked. The couple were caught with their self-made "Media Miami Heat" badges that included pasted-on photos, according to the arrest reports. But what if they hadn't? And what if people with dangerous intentions were able to reach supposedly secure areas? Phony passes, counterfeited or scalped tickets, these undermine promoters of large-scale events and damage the confidence of the ticket-buying public as well. They create issues in safety and security when unauthorized personnel manipulate the system and make it to the backstage area at concerts or the playing field at sporting events. They can also impact government agencies that issue credentials to employees and visitors. Imagine a compromised TSA at airports and the problems inherent in such breaches.

Safety, security, economics. These problems can be diminished and perhaps eradicated through the use of ePass and its various smartphone apps.

The ePass family of products (www.ePassApp.com) brings together innovative technology and portability to make electronic transactions secure. They can be used by the sellers of products as well as the consumer. The ePass secret? An automatically-changing bar code, a first of its kind, that is patented and trademarked.

"The future is smartphones with our ePass app or our dedicated ePass device," says company chairman and founder Alan Amron. "Our changing bar code technology will allow you to securely receive all credentials and passes, including tickets and badges, directly on your smartphone or ePass dedicated devices worldwide." The Security Code push changes every minute and eliminates the capability of counterfeit devices. There's a free app that requires a one-time registration by the user though the app is reprogrammable for an unlimited number of events.

On the revenue side for event producers: Multiple opportunities for advertising that can be changed for various events, dates, locations, and sponsors. It is completely controlled by the event organizers or their preferred register companies. A wireless, handheld bar code scanner reads the ever-changing code.

"I think it's a cutting edge idea. I don't know what the logistics are in facilitating it with the various organizations and if this company will get accredited and have all the licensees, but regardless of that I think there's a huge need for it," says David Chavez, president and chief executive officer of Pro Sports Marketing Ventures and Promotions (www.prosportsmvp.com) in Colorado Springs, CO. "It's just a matter of how the NFL or MLB or an event organizer would look at it. As far as the system, I think it's fantastic and I think it's needed. It would be a huge security measure and a comfort level for everybody, from the organizations to customers. This puts a method in place that takes out all the guesswork." The ePass app is available at the Apple iTunes App store, Android App stores, and Amazon App stores.

Inventions based on his patents have grossed over $250 million in total revenue. He was the inventor/creator in 1972 of Press On Memo, which is known now around the world as the popular Post It Notes by 3M.
