Nomadix Introduces Internet Traffic Optimizer

Jul 02, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Nomadix, Inc, a provider of public access gateways, announced the Nomadix Internet Traffic Optimizer, an appliance designed to boost existing bandwidth.

In a release, the company noted that by enabling IT managers to access and review traffic patterns and content usage, NITO offers insight for intelligent bandwidth management and allocation. Its extensive reporting capabilities allow IT managers to drill down on data and analysis patterns, IP address usage, most visited domains, search terms, and more.

According to a new broadband data consumption report released by IDC, bandwidth demand is pegged to increase ten-fold in the next few years. Web browsing, peer-to-peer file sharing, and audio/video streaming along with faster download speeds and more data-intensive applications are impacting bandwidth and promoting greater data consumption. The new NITO is designed to address this skyrocketing demand and provide some relief to network resources.

The company said that the NITO platform is built upon Intel's high-performance i7 Core processor, which delivers fast, intelligent, multi-core technology. With advanced networking techniques, NITO identifies the type of traffic through efficient deep packet inspection and will prioritize traffic as needed to ensure optimum performance. Working transparently in the background, NITO operates with minimal latency when inspecting and filtering unwanted traffic and does not disrupt traffic flow.

"The Nomadix Internet Traffic Optimizer is designed to maximize the use of existing bandwidth and service more users with higher network demands, resulting in an increased cost savings for our customers," said Fred Reeder, chief commercial and operating officer of Nomadix. "With data insights at hand, bandwidth can be optimally managed to throttle traffic accordingly. For hospitality entities with loyalty programs, bandwidth can be managed to support these programs or tiered affinity guest programs that offer high bandwidth access to premium users."
