BRIEF: BCSN names student, teacher of the year


May 14, 2012 (The Blade - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Alyse Krausz and Katie Peters were named the student of the year and the teacher of the year, respectively, today at Buckeye Cable Sports Network's sixth annual scholarship awards dinner at the Pinnacle in Maumee.



Krausz, a senior at Notre Dame Academy, receives a $16,000 scholarship that can be applied to tuition, on-campus room and board, fees and books. The scholarship is awarded in increments of $4,000 annually, provided the student maintains a 3.0 grade-point average and is enrolled as a full-time student each year. Krausz plans to study biomedical engineering at Ohio State University.

Peters, an English, speech and drama teacher at Rogers High School, receives a $1,000 cash award, a gift for his or her classroom valued up to $1,500 and a $10,000 endowed scholarship fund in her name from which one scholarship will be awarded annually through the school.
