KSI Teams with Lumidigm to Deliver Biometrics in a Desktop Keyboard

LAS VEGAS --(Business Wire)--

KSI (Key Source (News - Alert) International) today announced that it has integrated the Lumidigm Mariner™ fingerprint reader into the KSI-1700 professional series keyboard system, the most advanced integrated keyboard system available today. Offering integrated security and auto ID in an elegant, HIPAA-compliant desktop solution, the KSI-1700 keyboard system with the Lumidigm reader will be introduced this week at HIMSS in Las Vegas.

"In my 20 plus years in the security input device business I have never seen biometric performance taken to such a level. It is simply amazing, the reliability the Lumidigm Mariner unit delivers, it surpasses anything I have witnessed to date," says Phil Bruno, KSI vice president of sales & marketing.

Lumidigm is renowned for its fingerprint readers which incorporate multispectral imaging, a sophisticated technology that was designed to overcome the fingerprint capture problems that conventional imaging systems face in less-than-ideal conditions, such as those found in hospitals. Capable of viewing both the external and internal fingerprint below the skin's surface, the Lumidigm Mariner does not require clean and perfect contact between the finger and the sensor to quickly and reliably authenticate users.

"Users in mission-critical hospital environments requiring strong authentication no longer need to compromise biometrics performance, durability, reliability or convenience with the KSI-1700 keyboards," emphasizes Phil Scarfo, Lumidigm senior vice president of worldwide sales and mrketing. "With Mariner, KSI's offering provides exceptionally fast and highly dependable user authentication in an elegant, simple to use, easy to deploy package."

KSI brings the Lumidigm Advantage™ to a wide range of business opportunities such as secure data access to multi-user workstations, electronic medical records, enterprise single sign-on, point-of-sale applications, time and attendance data collection, quality control and standards compliance, laboratory equipment sign-on, data network access and other Windows®-based applications in which organizations need to get a fast fingerprint read on the first try.

"KSI and Lumidigm share a commitment to offering fully-integrated, best-in-class products and solutions that will greatly enhance the utility, security and convenience of user access to medical records," said Scarfo. "Easy to integrate, easy to use - the KSI-1700 with Lumidigm Mariner will meet the demands of any secure single sign-on application."

The KSI-1700 keyboard with the Lumidigm Mariner fingerprint reader will be showcased at the Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada from February 21-23 at KSI Booth 3464 and Lumidigm Booth 1262.
