AUSTRALIA : McAfee to protect Vodafone s Android phone customers [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Vodafone has inked a partnership deal with McAfee, to provide a protection service for its Android phone customers.

Under this partnership, Vodafone is offering the monthly subscription-based security application -McAfee Mobile Security, for selected Android smartphones running from 2.1 to 3.0 operating systems (OS). The service provider is offering this service for $3 per month while the first month fee won t be applicable. The app will go live and be available for its Three customers on February 6. The new app has a device lock, data backup, location tracker and anti-virus software. It will guard from the potential phishing on websites, browser exploits and malicious quick response (QR) codes. It will also thwart theft or an unauthorised users from bypassing the mobile safety as it will have an uninstall feature within the app.



James Dampney, Head of Applications at Vodafone, said, With the rise of the smartphone and all of the fantastic ways we use our mobile devices, protecting personal contacts, SMS messages and other sensitive information including photos is something everyone should consider.
