BRIEF: One dead, one critical after shooting in KinseyJun 10, 2011 (Dothan Eagle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A Webb man is dead after a gunfight with his ex-wife in her home in the Kinsey area Friday morning. Matthew Paul Forrester, 29, of Webb, was shot to death by Tina Marie Forrester, 29, of Kinsey around 3 a.m. Friday. Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said Matthew Forrester entered the home before 3 a.m. Friday armed with a handgun. Matthew and Tina Forrester had been involved in ongoing disputes, and a male acquaintance of Tina Forrester's was present at the home because she feared for her life, Hughes said. Matthew Forrester pulled his weapon and Tina Forrester entered the room, Hughes said. After exchanging words, Tina Forrester went into her bedroom, got a gun, returned to the living room and opened fire on Matthew Forrester, who shot back, Hughes said. Matthew Forrester died of wounds sustained in the exchange. Tina Forrester was critically wounded and taken to Southeast Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Hughes said police are ruling the killing as self-defense at this time. However, they are checking cell phone records and electronic communications between the Forresters prior to the incident.
