Arqiva Enhances Its Washington, DC Operations to Provide Secure Communications Solutions to US Government Through Worldwide Teleports, Satellite and Fiber Networks


WASHINGTON, March 16, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- SATELLITE 2011 -- Communications infrastructure and media services company Arqiva is enhancing its US and Washington, DC presence to better serve existing US government customer requirements. By expanding its US government operations domestically, Arqiva will continue to work as a prime sub-contractor to integrators and service providers to US government agencies. With that objective, the Company announced that William R (Randy) Witten has joined as VP Sales, US Government. In this new position, Mr. Witten will report to Washington-based Jon Kirchner, EVP, Arqiva, Inc, the wholly-owned US subsidiary of Arqiva Ltd.



"When adding an enhanced Washington DC-based capability to our existing UK operations, and then tapping into our worldwide infrastructure, Arqiva can support additional critical US government communications to many of the world's hotspots, be it the Middle East, Africa, Asia or the Americas," said Mr. Kirchner. "Our integrated hybrid solutions address the needs of defense and homeland security agencies as well as support critical communications by utilizing our secure teleports, value-added services, reliable fiber and satellite networks for mobile and fixed applications." Arqiva has an established worldwide communications network including teleports compliant in the Information Assurance (IA) certified transit of classified and sensitive traffic. As the company seeks to extend and expand its long heritage in providing services to the US Government sector, it is developing and refining Los Angeles and Washington teleports for secure transmissions as well as hiring and training the requisite staff. In addition, Arqiva has recently completed a significant upgrade of its secure terrestrial fiber network which connects all of its international teleports and key POPs around the world. Central to the expansion of Arqiva's US government services has been the appointment of Randy Witten as VP Sales, US Government. Mr. Witten will spearhead the initiative to increase Arqiva's presence in Washington, DC and US Government agencies throughout the country, as well as expanding data and IP services. In addition, Mr. Witten will grow the business in the commercial enterprise market by building and expanding the company's relationships in the oil and gas industries as well as developing its presence in the maritime industry.

There he created and grew the government market division, facilitating business in the intelligence community. Previously Mr. Witten was VP Sales, Norsat America where he helped develop and sustain a wide range of VSAT offerings within the Department of Defense as well as addressing international opportunities in numerous vertical markets.
