(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 23 February 2011 Release date- 22022011 - Irvine, California - 2D3 Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Oxford, UK based OMG plc, and technology leader in the field of computer vision, image understanding, and full motion video exploitation announced today that it has acquired 100% of the stock of Silicon Valley based Sensing Systems Incorporated.

Sensing is an 11 year old business that has dominated the imagery and metadata management space with its core Sensing software libraries which, among other features, enables other software producers to easily decode, encode, manage, store and disseminate video based information.

Both companies have customers in commercial, government and defense markets including key customers involved in the rapidly growing field of Unmanned Vehicles. The combination of the two companies' technology, people and processes will enable significant expansion in this critical area, and will establish the combined entity as a foundational solution to system integrators and prime contractors.

The San Mateo based Sensing Systems division will be the cornerstone of 2D3's US-based software development, and will immediately begin integrating 2D3's computer vision software and algorithms into the core Sensing Software Libraries.

'The combination of our two businesses will enable us to rapidly introduce critical, new computer vision technology and expand our existing customer bases in worldwide image understanding markets, including the US Department of Defense and UK Ministry of Defense,' said Jon Damush, President of 2D3 Inc. 'Sensing's core libraries will become not only the foundation of new technology from the combined entity, but will also be a key product line within the companies' combined portfolio.'
