: ZTE Recognised for Industry Best Practices as Frost & Sullivan's SDR Equipment Vendor of the Year

Shenzhen, Feb 09, 2011 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- ZTE Corporation ("ZTE") (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, announced that the company was awarded the Best Practice Award for being Frost & Sullivan's "2010 SDR Equipment Vendor of the Year" in recognition of ZTE's outstanding contribution to the development of Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology and the wireless communications industry.

As of the end of 2010, the total shipment of ZTE SDR base-stations tripled from the previous year to exceed 700,000 units, a 200% increase on 2009. ZTE is the world's first company to introduce the SDR base-station platform and also the first one to recognise its commercial application. The technology is able to support multiple wireless access modes on a single hardware platform including GSM, UMTS, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA, FDD LTE, WiMAX and TDD LTE.

In recent years, ZTE has achieved widespread breakthrough in the wireless communications market by leveraging the cutting-edge capabilities of this new platform. In Europe, ZTE has partnered to provide mass delivery of SDR base-stations for KPN, Telenor, Telefonica, Optimus and H3G. In China, ZTE is ranked No.1 in terms of the newly added market share of UMTS and second in terms of total market share.

Meanwhile, ZTE continues to be ranked No.1 in the world when it comes to the shipment of CDMA products. Its WiMAX products have been adopted by mainstream operators such as KDDI, Clearwire, and Telefonica. ZTE's LTE products have also won commercial application contracts and 65 test network contracts in 12 countries.

ZTE's SDR base-station is now deployed in Germany and is used by more than 60 operators in over 40 countries including Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Turkey, Japan, Russia, Canada and the US.

The SDR vendor ranking is maintained by consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, which has over 35 offices in six continents, providing marketing and strategic consulting services for global 1000 companies, startups and investment organisations.
