Goldman, Digital Sky spend USD500m on Facebook stakes

Jan 03, 2011 (MANAVIGATOR via COMTEX) -- US investment bank Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) and Russian Internet investment group Digital Sky Technologies have invested USD500m (EUR376m) in social networking website Facebook, the New York Times said citing sources in the know.

The size of the stakes acquired by the two investors, however, was not provided.

The transaction values Facebook at USD50bn, the New York Times said, adding that Goldman injected USD450m in the website, while Digital Sky, which already poured about USD500m in it, now invested a further USD50m.

As part of the deal, Goldman could sell part of its stake to Digital Sky, the paper said.

All three parties involved in the report were not available for comment.
