Nokia Siemens Networks gets LTE network job from Deutsche Telekom


(Nordic Business Report Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) 22 October 2010 - Finnish-German telecoms equipment maker Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) said today that it will deploy long-term evolution (LTE) network in 800 MHz band for German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom AG (FRA: DTE).



No financial details were available.

Deutsche Telekom chose NSN as one of its hardware, software and services suppliers for the set-up and maintenance of the LTE radio network across Germany. In addition, the operator chose the equipment maker a future worldwide LTE supplier.


Under the contract, NSN will handle the planning, optimisation, deployment of the LTE network and its maintenance . The company will also supply its Single RAN solution with Self Organizing Network (SON) functionality, based on its Flexi Multiradio Base Station, and its network management and optimisation software NetAct.

It will also expand Deutsche Telekom's existing subscriber data management platform in order to provide a single, unified view of all subscriber-related data.

The LTE network will provide advanced mobile broadband services to underserved rural areas in Germany. Previously, the 800 MHz digital dividend frequency band was used by analog TV.

Nokia Siemens Networks is a 50/50 joint venture between Finnish Nokia Oyj (HEL: NOK1V) and German Siemens AG (FRA: SIE).
