Boingo Taps Make-A-Wish Foundation® for Fall Campaign

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

Boingo (News - Alert) Wireless, the world's leading Wi-Fi provider, is supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation with two initiatives designed to generate more than 1 million donated airline miles for the non-profit's wish-granting mission.

In an effort to maximize airline miles donated to the popular charity, Boingo will match - mile-for-mile - individual frequent flier airline mile donations to the Make-A-Wish® "Miles of Smiles" campaign via a special Boingo web site. Friends of Boingo and the Make-A-Wish Foundation can go to http://www.boingo.com/make-a-wish and donate Continental, United, US Airways, Delta or AirTran program miles. Boingo will match those donations up to 500,000 miles, creating the opportunity for a 1 million-mile donation.

Boingo will also donate 100 Delta SkyMiles to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for every new Boingo Unlimited subscription purchased from now until November 15, 2010. The donation will be promoted at the point of sale in Boingo's 58 airports in North America and the United Kingdom.

"We're proud to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation as they continue to empower and delight thousands of children around the world through their wish-granting work," said Dave Hagan, Boingo's president and CEO for Boingo Wireless (News - Alert). "We're inspired by the spirit and strength of the children, and we take to heart the mission to make their wishes come true."

"Boingo's generous sponsorship of the Make-A-Wish Foundation reflects their commitment t volunteerism and community well-being," said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer. "The airline miles generated through Boingo's efforts will help us get wish kids and their families to their fondest wish destinations and preserve critical financial resources."

The miles raised through the "Miles of Smiles" campaign will enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fulfill the wishes of even more children with life-threatening medical conditions - it granted a record 13,471 wishes in fiscal year 2009. More than 60 percent of the wishes granted each year involve air travel, equivalent to 2.5 billion airline miles.
