Recorded Future - CIA and Google Get InterestedJohannesburg, Jul 29, 2010 (Business Day/All Africa Global Media via COMTEX) -- Ex-Swedish special forces Ranger and software developer finds he can track future online relationships and gets Google and the CIA interested. Here's something that could change your life, if you're a suicide bomber and alive. Recorded Future is using certificates and other non-cookies to watch how people are searching the web. And watching Recorded Ruture are the CIA as well as Google. Its idea is simple, it merely crawls through hundreds of thousands of sites, social networking areas, accounts, to find who's linked to whom. Relationships between organizations, individuals, ngo's, schools, governments, actions and events are all quickly assessed. The company has launched a new White Paper which claims its engine goes into what's invisible rather than what's simply there. Documents also have invisible links and the company believes it can track any document use as well as possible secondary issues such as relationships between disparate "things" - and people. Example one : Bomber A to Bomber B to army support person X. The system will track this link and then analyse future threats. But what has got the tech world talking is that Google is happy to consider using this technology after all its public displays of not interfering with people's secrets when defending itself against Beijing... Recorded Future is designed by an ex-Swedish Army Ranger Christopher Ahlberg who also has a Masters in Computer Science. While refusing to work with the Chinese government, Google has admitted its looking at this software which is just a teenie weenie step away from the infamous Al Gore Clipper Chip suggestion of the 90's. That was booed away by the Internet Fraternity as abuse of power, yet the Recorded Future analytics engine is a form of snooping that makes the Clipper redundant. |
