She's a Free Friend, Baby: Lady Gaga Nears 10 Million Facebook Friends TMCnet Web Editor Surpassing President Barack Obama in popularity on social media sites, Lady Gaga, international pop star and purveyor of the outrageous and absurd, now crowns her blond bow-tied hair with nearly 10 million friends on Facebook (News - Alert).
Speeding past Obama's friend count of 9.41 million, the big LG tallied 9.78 million friends on Thursday, making her the most popular friend on Facebook aside from Michael Jackson's remembrance page coming in at 14 million.
Lady Gaga certainly milks all of what social media has to offer. Her Facebook account addresses her "little monsters" with announcements of performances and occasionally what appear to be semi-personal descriptions of what she's doing such as "After marathons of Cops, parties w rocknrollers, cookin for dad+ drinkin beers, I announce: THE MONSTER BALL NORTH AMERICAN TOUR SUMMER 2010" posted on Monday. Beyond Facebook, the pop megastar, known for her chart-topping music and her eye-popping fashion, rolls deep with 4.72 million Twitter followers while Obama racks up a measly 4.42 million. Britney Spears caps both of them with 5.24 million Tweeters, but she's old news.
While no living person has broken the 10 million Facebook friend cap, both Gaga and Obama are poised to do so within the next few days.
