NTT America and AHCIET Host Asia-Pacific and Latin American Telecom Event

Apr 23, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- NTT America, a U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications and an IP network services provider, and AHCIET, a non-profit organization representing more than 50 Latin American and Spanish telecommunications companies, announced that the XXV Reunion Iberoamericana de Trafico Internacional will be held April 28th-30th at the JW Marriott Hotel Miami in Miami, Florida.

Telecoms executives from the carrier community, as well as C-level executives, vice presidents and directors from network operators and content providers, will gather to discuss Asia-Pacific and Latin American Traffic Relations and other topics of interest to AHCIET's executive-level constituency. The Miami meeting marks the first time this biannual event will be held in the United States.

"The Latin American market is making tremendous strides in the deployment of broadband networks, WiMax and mobile data," said Michael Wheeler, vice president of Sales and Business Development for NTT America. "As content providers would like access to these viewers, they are continuing to expand their connectivity to the region." "Latin America is a very attractive market for international carriers," said TeleGeography Vice President of Research, Tim Stronge. "International Internet traffic to and from Latin America grew 120 percent in 2008, more than twice the global average." The event will offer five in depth conference sessions over the course of two days on the opportunities for doing business in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American regions. Simultaneous interpretation services will be provided in English, Spanish and Portuguese during the general conference sessions. Many opportunities for networking have been built into the event including a breakfast and a luncheon, three coffee breaks, two evening cocktail receptions, and a dinner cruise on the Grand Floridian in Biscayne Bay. In addition, time has been set aside for bilateral meetings and negotiations on the afternoon of Wednesday, the 29th, and the entire day of Thursday, the 30th. The event will have a dedicated space with negotiation tables for these important meetings and attendees are encouraged to schedule meetings in advance using the online meeting planner, which is available to all registered attendees.

"The event represents a unique opportunity to understand the international traffic between Asia-Pacific and Latin America, since the event will bring together the most important carriers from these regions to Miami," said Francisco Gomez Alamillo, secretary general of AHCIET.
