MyUS.com: You've got mail? Then you're going to need local company

BRADENTON, Dec 04, 2008 (The Bradenton Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --

When MyUS.com opened in Bradenton about 10 years ago, it started as a small, manual mail processor.
It has become an international, package and mail forwarding business that serves about 13,000 customers globally. That is the reason this year, The Manatee County Economic Development Council selected MyUS.com for the Exporting Excellence award.

The award, sponsored by BB&T Bank, honors a company that exports products or services outside the United States for growth, use of vendors, international market expansion and sales.

MyUS.com has been operating since 1997, and specializes in servicing international consumers, businesses and expatriates.

The Internet-based company has a 30,000 square-foot warehouse, and handles at least 40,000 packages a month.

MyUS.com uses DHL Express for standard shipping, but also uses FedEX Priority and FedEx Air Freight.

According to the EDC, MyUS.com has generated some of its highest profitability during this struggling economy.

MyUS.com also offers a personal shopping service on its Web site for international consumers. The personal shopper links users to popular online stores such as Bluefly, Amazon.com, and buy.com.

Eric Baird founded the company, which has 52 employees, and also serves as president and chief operating officer of MyUS.com.

He also co-founded MultiNational Concepts, Ltd., an international mailing list and database maintenance company for direct marketers.

The management team of MyUS.com also includes: John Godshall, chief technical officer; Teresa Foreman, vice president of marketing and business development; Robin Roach, customer service manager; Michael Geer, operations manager; and Corey Stone, information technology manager.
