Comtrend Debuts CT-5374 Multi-DSL Router, Supporting Both VDSL2 and ADSL2+, at TelcoTV 2008

IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Comtrend Corporation, a leading supplier of broadband, VoIP and data networking equipment, today announced it will be unveiling its new CT-5374 WiFi router for residential use at the TelcoTV 2008 Conference & Expo, November 11-13 in Anaheim, California. The CT-5374 uniquely accommodates both of the most advanced DSL standards in use today along with an extra WAN port, enabling the unit to act as a high powered broadband router for FTTH deployments. The CT-5374 allows telcos to flexibly support the rollout of high-speed voice/video/data services including HDTV through either ADSL2+, VDSL2 or FTTH, while also reducing the number of products they need to purchase.

Comtrend's CT-5374 is built for today's consumer demands and lifestyle. It has the ability to support the latest 802.11n draft 2.0 WiFi networks and comes standard with 802.11b/g. The CT-5374 has four 10/100 Base-T LAN ports along with a fifth port that is 10/1000/1000bt with the flexibility to act as a WAN port, turning the unit into a high powered Ethernet Router for FTTH.

The CT-5374 supports such features as UPnP and DLNA. It can be used as a media server by plugging a hard drive into its USB 2.0 port, creating a true connected home environment linking consumer electronics devices throughout a home for a variety of services. It is also fully compliant with the TR-069 standard for remote management.

"As ultra-fast broadband networks continue to be implemented, it's important for telecoms to not be overwhelmed with multiple residential gateway devices, each designed for one specific standard. The CT-5374 gives providers the flexibility and cost efficiency they're looking for," said Andrew Morton, Comtrend's General Manager. "Because it can automatically switch between VDSL2, ADSL2+ or be used as a high powered Ethernet Router, the CT-5374 router simplifies life for telecom personnel in terms of inventory, installation, remote management profiles and support. This residential gateway creates a connected home environment that telcos can use to provide a more competitive service offering."

Flexible Triple Play
Built for both customer and telco convenience, the CT-5374 supports a USB 2.0 host port in addition to its four 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port and extra 10/100/1000 WAN port. Its support for ADSL2+ and VDSL2 standards means the device can automatically deliver the full complement of high-speed Triple Play (voice/video/data) services as well as high-definition TV and interactive gaming using existing copper wire infrastructure. There is also full support of G.INP and PhYR technologies for maximum performance over copper. With the additional 10/100/1000 WAN port the CT-5374 can also act as a high powered broadband router for FTTN.

Robust Security and Traffic Management
Dependable deployment of services is assured through the unit's range of QoS at layers 1-3: VDSL2 pre-emption ATM class of service/802.1p priority marking and Diffserv. The CT-5374 also has packet-level Quality of Service (QoS) technologies which include L3 policy-based QoS, IP QoS, and ToS. As a fully-protected wireless access device, the CT-5374 features 64- and/or 128-bit WEP data encryption plus WPA and address filtering 2x2 MIMO support, 802.1x, WPA/WPA2, weak key avoidance, 802.11i, CCX 3.0, full rate AES encryption, WMM QoS and WPS button for easy set up.

Comtrend will be demonstrating the CT-5374 and other selected products during TelcoTV 2008 from its display at Booth 747 in the Anaheim Convention Center. For more information about the CT-5374 router and all of Comtrend's advanced networking solutions, go to http://www.comtrend.com/.
