BT: John Petter Appointed Managing Director, Consumer At Bt Retail

John Petter has been appointed as Managing Director, Consumer at BT
Retail with effect from May 1, 2008, BT announced today. John,
currently Consumer Chief Operating Officer at BT Retail, joined BT from
Telewest in September 2004. His current role will not be directly
replaced.

Gavin Patterson, current BT Group Managing Director, welcomed the
appointment, "John has led the delivery of major improvements for the
Consumer business in the face of strong competition, and drove the
launch of the strategically important BT Home Hub. It's great news
that we have been able to make this appointment from within the
business, and John's wealth of experience, together with a deep
understanding of the marketplace, will continue to drive and deliver
the Consumer strategy moving forward."

John Petter added, "I'm thrilled and delighted to have the opportunity

John's appointment follows the announcement on April 8 that Gavin
Patterson will become CEO of BT Retail, joining the BT Board, on June
1. Patterson succeeds Ian Livingston, who has been appointed CEO of
BT Group.
