Network Appliance, a provider of storage and data management solutions, has announced the availability of SnapValidator for Oracle (News - Alert) Database 10g across all of its modular storage platforms. NetApp is currently the only company to support the Oracle Hardware Assisted Resilient Data (HARD) Initiative across NFS, FCP, and iSCSI protocols.

SnapValidator for Oracle proactively checks and intercepts potential data corruption or loss to ensure increased data reliability while also helping to reduce risk and unplanned downtime. As an end-to-end infrastructure-hardening solution for Oracle Database environments, SnapValidator helps customers to prevent data corruption before it starts.

Added complexity and increased probability of corruption before data is written is a common issue for customers with database servers and storage devices. NetApp and Oracle have added intelligence and database awareness to NetApp modular storage systems to deliver protection and validation to customers for Oracle data.

These systems also help to eliminate challenges associated with ensuring the accuracy of data, including unplanned application errors, accidental human errors resulting in potentially copying data onto inappropriate storage resources, accidental human errors resulting in potentially copying data onto inappropriate storage resources, and intricate data backup and restore processes to make data susceptible to corruption or loss.

NetApp positions itself as different from other vendors in that its customers benefit from a simple and unified architecture and HARD support across its entire storage product line, not just on high-end systems designed for large enterprises.

The Oracle HARD Initiative is a vaccine that assists customers in the prevention of business data from becoming corrupted. The solution is quicker, easier and less expensive to prevent an infection or corruption to cure it.

SnapValidator has been tightly integrated with Oracle Databases to create a data corruption immune system that detects and eliminates corruptions before they happen. Customers that depend on the accuracy of highly sensitive data, particularly within financial services organizations can leverage the solution to add an additional layer of protection, providing peach of mind that their transactions are accurate.

"We created SnapValidator for our customers who are responsible for making certain their Oracle data is unaltered and 100% accurate," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing at Network Appliance (News - Alert), in a Tuesday statement.

Rogers: "Our customers rely on our products with tight Oracle integration across our entire storage line, so they can remain focused on using their data rather than being preoccupied with its storage and movement."

Companies face significant challenges in ensuring not only that their internal data is secure and protected, but also that any privileged customer data is also protected from threats. This can guarantee business continuity in everyday operations.

This integrated solution also ensures that the data is protected even from everyday errors, whether human or created by the system. In providing this full protection, NetApps and Oracle are ensuring their customers can focus on their core business and not worry about their data.
