T-Mobile Austria Customers Receive TeleNav GPS Navigator on BlackBerry

T-Mobile Austria customers can now receive turn-by-turn GPS-enabled voice and on-screen directions directly from their BlackBerry (News - Alert) smartphone through a new service called TeleNav GPS Navigator.


 
Currently, the service is available on four BlackBerry smartphones – the BlackBerry 8800 (with built-in GPS), the BlackBerry Pearl, the BlackBerry 8700 and the BlackBerry 7130. All these devices require a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
 
“TeleNav’s SatNav service means any T-Mobile (News - Alert) customer with a supported BlackBerry smartphone can get all the benefits and features of an in-car navigation system, but directly on their mobile device,” said Robert Chvátal, CEO of T-Mobile Austria in a statement.
 
T-Mobile Austria customers can now get unlimited and convenient access for €8 per month. Users have to key in their destination, or preplan it on the Website, telenav.eu, and TeleNav GPS Navigator calculates their route.
 
Users will get up-to-the minute guidance while driving, and will automatically be re-routed if they miss a turn. The service includes full-colour 3D moving maps, and subscribers can preview their routes before they begin driving as well as specify preferences including avoiding motorways and taking the shortest or fastest route.
 
Thanks to TeleNav GPS Navigator, T-Mobile Austria customers always have access to up-to-date European maps and business and community addresses and phone numbers at their finger tips. Users can look up businesses and services, and either easily navigate to them with the click of a button or place a telephone call to them from their handset.
 
The service also provides T-Mobile Austria customers with directions when traveling in Western Europe as maps and business listings are automatically updated to reflect local information.
 
TeleNav GPS Navigator boasts several helpful tools making it convenient, relevant and easy-to-use. The tool has the ability to mark waypoints to assist customers find their way back to a location or to mark points of interest. Users can save any number of business or residential addresses in their “My Favorites” folder.
 
The service runs directly on T-Mobile smartphones enabling customers to switch to pedestrian mode and use the SatNav to guide them while walking to a parked car or through crowded city centre streets.
