CONVERGENCE PICKS SANGOMA TECHNOLOGIES FOR TWO PAKISTAN TELECOM DEPLOYMENTS

TORONTO – February 12, 2007 – Sangoma (News - Alert) Technologies Corporation (TSXV: STC) (www.sangoma.com), a leading provider of connectivity hardware and software products for VoIP, TDM voice, WANs and Internet infrastructure, has been selected by Convergence (News - Alert), a Pakistan-based telecommunications integrator and consulting organization, to provide Sangoma’s open source telephony solution to Burraqtel and Worldcall Telecom Limited in Pakistan.

“Burraqtel and Worldcall were both looking to deploy an open source platform that could be easily handled by their own technical teams and provide robust value added services to their customers to increase revenues,” says Convergence Principal Consultant, Wasim Baig. “The combination of Asterisk (News - Alert), Sangoma’s A104D PCI hardware and SS7BOX were exactly what these operators needed to meet their objectives.

“Sangoma’s disruptive pricing, customization, expansion and their technical expertise in underserved regions were the deciding factors in helping us to win contracts and proceed with these deployments.”

Through a license acquired from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Burraqtel and Worldcall was established to operate long distance service nationwide via the International Telephony Network in Pakistan. The network is based on a next generation infrastructure and incorporates state-of the-art technology with a view to scalability and traffic projections into and from Pakistan. Also, Worldcall operates its CDMA based Wireless Local Loop throughout Pakistan and has deployed SS7 for provisioning their various value added services from the PSTN over IP from all over Pakistan and UK.

“Voice platforms all over the world still use SS7 line protocols,” says Sangoma CEO David Mandelstam. “These installations in Pakistan in partnership with Convergence show that innovative thinking, combined with quality hardware, can provide carrier-grade reliability using combinations of open source and proprietary software.”

“We will continue to leverage our strategic relationships with our vast network of contacts in the open source telephony space to strengthen Sangoma’s market position in Pakistan and beyond,” says Baig. “Our decision to select Sangoma has been reinforced by their quality, engineering level support, innovation, reliability and performance necessary to build and support open source telephony systems across the country.”
