Ubiquity Software Announces Enhancements to Its Award-Winning SIP Application Server & SOOF SOA Architecture
Ubiquity SOOF SOA Offers Parlay X Support; SIP A/S Version 7.1 Delivers Enhanced Operational and Management Support
Fall VON, Boston - September 12, 2006 -- Ubiquity Software [LSE: UBQ.L], creators of the most widely adopted standards-based SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) deployment platform, today announced the release of version 7.1 of its Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Application Server (SIP A/S), which provides significant enhancements for service providers running SIP applications in a production environment. In conjunction with SIP A/S 7.1,
Ubiquity is also announcing enhancements to its standards-based SOOF Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with the introduction of Open Web Services, a set of SOOF Service Components that provide support for Parlay X.
Open Web Services Add Pack 1.0. is a new set of pre-built SOA service components that deliver capabilities defined by the ETSI Parlay X 2.0 specification, including; Third Party Call, Call Notification, Call Handling, Audio Call, and Multimedia Conference. With Ubiquity’s SOOF SOA and Open Web Services, customers and application developers can now create advanced SIP applications with minimal knowledge of SIP and the underlying protocol, and can extend existing applications with the addition of real-time communications features like Instant Messaging (IM), click-to-call, click-to-conference, and more.
"The enhanced capabilities of the Ubiquity SIP A/S version 7.1 allows our customers to continue to further leverage this commercially proven platform to realize significant competitive advantages in terms of shortening development time, accelerating time-to-market and delivering carrier-grade services" said John Hart, vice president of product line management for Ubiquity Software. "By incorporating support for our SOOF platform that has the Parlay X specifications, we are giving our partners new ways to integrate their legacy systems with the more advanced technology."
“This release represents an important milestone for Ubiquity, as SOOF will enable developers to quickly setup new services that can be policy driven, target specific subscriber segments, or be even combined with other applications,” said Ronald Gruia, Program Leader of Emerging Communications Solutions at Frost & Sullivan. “By embracing SOA, Ubiquity will further enhance its mindshare in the SIP A/S market by providing operators with a quick service setup and teardown, which allows these carriers to experiment introducing new offerings”, added Gruia.
Version 7.1 features an innovative horizontal architecture that greatly streamlines the deployment of new services for carriers, ISVs and service providers. Unlike legacy telecom application servers that use vertical “silo” architecture, Ubiquity SIP A/S uses a unified framework that shares common network resources, making it easier to host multiple simultaneous applications.
Other new features in Version 7.1 of the Ubiquity SIP Application Server include:
• Silent Installation
• New Default Configuration: Out-of-the-box configuration tuned for throughput
• Application In-Flight Upgrades
• Management Server HA
• Service Director Load Balancing
