Soap star tipped to join Doctor as Billie's time travelling nears end
(Evening Standard Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) FORMER Crossroads actress Freema Agyeman is the front runner to replace Billie Piper as Doctor Who's sidekick.
She will appear in the final two episodes of the current series as a character called Adeola as the Doctor, played by David Tennant, fights the Cybermen.
Piper will not return as Rose for the Christmas special or the next series.
Agyeman - who appeared in the doomed revival of Crossroads in 2001 and has been in Casualty, The Bill and Silent Witness - is tipped to become a permanent cast member for the third series of the revamped show.
Filming starts in five weeks and will take the Tardis into the future and the past, where the Doctor will come face to face with William Shakespeare.
