MK Capital Welcomes Industry Veteran Neil E. Cox as Venture Partner; Cox Brings Nearly 30 Years of Investment and Operation Expertise to MK Capital Team


NORTHBROOK, Ill. --(Business Wire)-- July 11, 2005 -- MK Capital, a leading venture capital firm based in Chicago, today announced the addition of Neil E. Cox to the organization. Cox will join the Firm as a Venture Partner and will be part of the MK Capital investment team. His investment expertise is in companies providing information technology solutions for service providers and enterprises that improve the overall performance of the entity.

Prior to joining MK Capital, Neil was the executive vice president of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) responsible for next generation technologies and networks for both wired and wireless businesses. He has also served as President of Ameritech Information Industry Services, a $1 billion division; President of SecurityLink from Ameritech, the 2nd largest security monitoring business in North America; and was responsible for Ameritech's International Operations. Cox has served on the Board of Directors of numerous domestic and international companies. Neil is a graduate of Purdue University.


Each member of the MK Capital team has extensive experience in managing venture funds, as well as managing entrepreneurial ventures. Through the team's experience managing funds in a prior organization, members of MK Capital have overseen 10 prior funds since 1985 totaling over $750m in capital with over 200 portfolio company investments. Members of the MK Team have directly led over 75 portfolio company investments with many successful exits including more than 15 IPO's and over 30 profitable portfolio company acquisitions/mergers. Maxwell, along with Mark Koulogeorge, will serve as managing general partners of MK Capital. Karen Buckner, Neil Cox and Mark Terbeek will serve as partners in the fund.
