Vonage(R) and Texas Instruments Continue Drive to Provide Consumers and Businesses Cutting-Edge Broadband Telephony Products

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Vonage, the leading broadband phone company and Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) , are extending their relationship to include TI VoIP software and semiconductors in new Vonage-compatible communications products available from partners, Viseon and VTech Communications. The two new devices, which will be shown at CES 2005, include the world's first digital home telephone for VoIP from Viseon, and a cordless broadband telephone system from VTech. Both are compatible with Vonage's service and are expected to be available in 2005. Last year, Vonage selected TI as its technology partner to enhance its current software offering and evolve new VoIP services leveraging TI's market-leading VoIP technology.

"Vonage and TI are creating the technology that is making it possible for consumers and small businesses to use broadband telephony to communicate in new and better ways," stated Jeffrey A. Citron, chairman and CEO of Vonage Holdings Corp. "TI's technological expertise and proven track record in the VoIP software and silicon space, combined with Vonage's leading flat-rate, full-featured calling plans open new paths to revolutionize broadband communications."
The two companies project that the combination of TI's VoIP technology and Vonage's broadband telephony software will continue to enable equipment designers to rapidly develop high-quality, feature-rich VoIP devices for their customers. The latest offerings from Viseon and VTech demonstrate how the TI- Vonage alliance spurs the creation of new broadband products for consumers and businesses to use in managing their voice services through cable, DSL or Wi-Fi connections.
"By working closely with an innovative service provider like Vonage, as well as leading broadband equipment manufacturers like Viseon and VTech, TI delivers the benefits of VoIP to users more rapidly and cost-effectively than ever before," said Bill Simmelink, general manager, TI's VoIP business unit. "Leveraging our field-proven VoIP portfolio, we've spent considerable time with Vonage over the last year demonstrating interoperability and enabling customer certifications in order to meet the rapidly growing demand for VoIP."
Viseon's Digital Home Telephone for VoIP incorporates technology from TI's VoIP and digital media groups, including TI's TNETV1050 IP phone processor and DSP-based TMS320DM64x digital media processor. Compatible with Vonage's broadband telephony service, it features the highest quality video encoding/decoding system on the market today, and includes full wideband voice capability. VTech's ip8100-2 Broadband Telephone incorporates TI's TNETV1060 VoIP gateway chipset, enabling consumers to benefit from high quality voice applications compatible with Vonage's service. It includes a cordless handset with enhanced clarity and security, coupled with a base unit featuring a fully integrated telephone adapter with a WAN and PC port so that broadband connectivity can be shared without using a router.
TI has supplied solutions to the IP telephony industry since its inception, and is the leading provider of VoIP software and silicon solutions. According to an In-Stat/MDR November 2003 report, TI currently holds roughly 80 percent of the total VoIP integrated circuit (IC) shipment volume for the IP phone, CPE gateway and infrastructure gateway segments of the market. With more than 30,000 lines being added to its network every month, Vonage is the fastest growing telephony company in North America, logging more than ten million calls per week.
