B. Keith Fulton Named Vice-President - Strategic Alliances for Verizon WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- B. Keith Fulton has been named vice president - strategic alliances for Verizon, effective Oct. 25.Fulton will assume the position previously held by Magda Yrizarry, who is now vice president of workplace, culture and compliance for the company. Fulton will head Verizon's Strategic Alliance Group, which is responsible for the company's outreach to multicultural, senior citizen and disabled constituencies throughout the United States. He also will work with education organizations such as the National Education Association and the United States Distance Learning Association to help ensure that underserved communities have access to emerging broadband technologies. "Keith is a strong leader with a record of proven results," said Brown. "We're delighted to have him join in Verizon's effort to build America's broadband future and to deliver innovative, life-enhancing communications services to millions of consumers and small businesses." Fulton comes to Verizon from the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he was a senior telecommunications policy analyst. He was a member of the department's IPv6 Task Force, which examined issues associated with the next generation of the Internet protocol, known as version 6. IPv6 will serve as the foundation of tomorrow's Internet. Fulton also helped write the rural wireless broadband Notice of Inquiry that was published in the Federal Register in 2004 and prepared communications policy briefs for the president, the vice president and the secretary of commerce. Prior to joining the Department of Commerce, Fulton was vice president of the AOL Time Warner Foundation, where he managed the company's global digital opportunity portfolio and created partnerships with government, businesses and nonprofit organizations. Before that, he held several positions with the National Urban League and was founding director of the League's Technology Programs and Policy Department. He was a strong advocate for national technology initiatives that target underserved communities. He earned a bachelor's degree in urban affairs and planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a master's degree from the New School's Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy in New York, where he was a Sloan Fellow. He received his law degree from the New York Law School and is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association.
