Nokia Licenses Remote Access Technology from Positive Networks; Nokia Will Use Positive Networks Software in Mobile Connectivity, Security and VPN Solutions

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 18, 2004 -- Positive Networks, a leading provider of remote access services, today announced an agreement whereby Nokia (NYSE: NOK) will license some of Positive Networks' remote access and security technology for use in some of Nokia's mobile connectivity and VPN business solutions.

The Nokia mobile connectivity solution using Positive Networks technology will help mobile employees access their networks quickly and securely, increasing productivity by connecting employees who do not have an enterprise device; and allowing partners, suppliers and contractors to access specific enterprise applications.

Nokia will incorporate Positive's PositivePRO(R) VPN client software and web-based functionality, including patent-pending Dynamic Application Tunnel technology and Secure Workspace. Dynamic Application Tunneling allows any client-server application to work more securely over the web even when connected to the corporate network through a standard web browser. Secure Workspace allows users to log into the corporate network from any computer and access the Internet without worry of tracking cookies or other data being cached on the local computer. When a user logs off of the corporate network, all temporary data is removed ensuring no company data is left behind. The data removal process meets U.S. Department of Defense secure file removal standards.

"Positive offers unique secure remote access technology that Nokia has recognized as a value-add to its own solution," said Timothy Sutton, CEO of Positive Networks. "Our PositivePRO technology has been well received by the market and will provide a suite of real-time security features for Nokia's mobile connectivity and VPN business solutions."

"With the integration of Positive Networks' innovative technology, Nokia will extend its competitiveness in the SSL VPN market," said Steve Schall, senior product manager, Security & Mobile Connectivity, at Nokia's Enterprise Solutions unit. "CIOs and IT Managers are faced with meeting the increasing demands of business users for seamless remote access to corporate resources. Nokia's mobile connectivity solutions give enterprises the power to meet that challenge."

Nokia will utilize Positive Networks' PositivePRO technology to provide more robust real-time security monitoring and enforcement of virus protection and definition updates, local firewall rules, local application detection and distribution. Businesses can control what information is being accessed, locally stored, or uploaded to the network based on who the user is, what device they are using, and more importantly, how secure that device is.

Positive Networks will continue to offer its PositivePRO managed VPN service to companies looking to outsource their entire VPN needs.
