Xybernaut Mobile/Wearable Computers Fit the Bill for Commodities Traders in Wall Street

FAIRFAX, Va. & NEW YORK --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 3, 2004 -- Atigo Handles Critical Data Delivery for NYMEX Member-Company MBF Clearing Corp.; Improves Information Management on the Floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange

Xybernaut(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR) today announced that MBF Clearing Corporation, a clearing member for all of the New York commodities exchanges and one of the largest commodities clearing companies on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), has recently deployed Xybernaut Atigo computers as the primary mobile computing platform for a trading floor information delivery system.

The system, which is designed to provide on-demand access to critical information related to energy futures, uses wireless connectivity (WiFi) and off-the-shelf Windows XP and custom-built MBF applications to gather data issued by the Department of Energy (DOE), charting services and other organizations. MBF Clearing Corp. traders use this data as the fundamental knowledge base for split-second decision-making in "the pit" -- the area on the NYMEX Exchange floor where member-companies can buy and sell commodities.

"When I first saw and used the Atigo, we knew the form-factor and the capabilities were right in the wheel-house for our needs," stated John McCann, principal trader for MBF Clearing Corp. "In banking and finance -- particularly on the hectic NYMEX trading floor -- the ability to access critical information whenever/wherever we are located can mean the difference in hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in profit margin for our trades. Trading successfully in the pits without instant access to technical analysis, market information, weather updates and breaking news is like trying to play poker over the phone, you need to "see" the whole playing field. In the first few weeks of use alone, the timely delivery of our market data helped us secure many trades with very favorable terms."

All technologies used by MBF Clearing Corp. are evaluated, selected and deployed by Neomancer LLC -- a technology consulting and solutions company in Short Hills, NJ.

Neomancer and Xybernaut have worked very closely to meet the high expectations of MBF Clearing Corp. primary traders -- Tony Birbilis and John McCann -- related to cutting edge technologies and innovative products. Feedback from MBF also indicates that these advances will help to ensure the MBF team remains amongst the best traders in the world.

Neomancer indicated that the Atigo devices were competitively evaluated along with laptops, tablet PCs, PDAs and other hand-held computers. Selection criteria included:

-- Ruggedness -- devices need to withstand rough handling in "the pit"

-- Support for standard operating system and software (Windows XP in the case of MBF)

-- Superior battery life and power management

-- Power -- 1Ghz TransMeta chip is fast and designed to maximize power consumption

-- Ergonomics -- comfort for the traders who use the device on the NYMEX trading floor

-- Ease-of-use -- ability to run familiar applications and software; eliminating costly/timely training

-- Ability to integrate with existing MBF systems and NYMEX standards

-- Ability to customize the device -- features such as programmable buttons and software tools

"We are pleased to be selected as a powerful yet affordable solution that meets critical needs in the fast-paced existence of commodities/futures traders at the NYMEX and other commodities exchanges," stated Steven A. Newman, president and COO. "Our in-the-trenches experience in military and commercial enterprise applications carried-over nicely to banking and finance -- a quickly growing industry sector for Xybernaut."

The Atigo is a smart Web pad computer, providing immediate access to critical information via wireless communications and/or the Internet. As a result, information is available on an as-needed, where-needed basis, making it ideally suited to real-time exchange floor situations.

When appropriate, critical market information - such as DOE reports on U.S. and international oil/gas reserves -- can be shared with others on the MBF team such as researchers, market analysts, customer service agents or others. Additionally, other types of data such as trending reports and third-party market analyses can be viewed in rich graphical formats or even viewed/listened-to as video/audio using the Atigo.

With its initial deployment of Xybernaut technologies, Neomancer is already looking at other areas within MBF Clearing Corp. where mobile/wearable computing could be utilized for productivity or to enhance overall information and knowledge management.
