Envox 6 Delivers VoiceXML, Speech, Web Services and VoIP Capabilities in Single Standards-Based Platform

Envox Worldwide - May 18, 2004

Envox Worldwide, a leading global provider of voice solutions, today announced the general availability of Envox 6, the next generation of its open, standard-based communications development platform which now delivers expanded VoiceXML, speech, Web services and VoIP capabilities in a single platform. Optimized for rapid application development, Envox 6 is ideal for creating and deploying a wide range of voice solutions, including interactive voice response, enhanced self-service, automated directory assistance, alerts and notifications, voice portals, mobile Internet, and unified communications.

These expanded features coupled with Envox 6’s rapid application development and advanced system administration capabilities, allow developers to further reduce the time, cost and complexity of developing and deploying voice solutions. Specifically, Envox 6 offers:

· Enhanced VoiceXML gateway capabilities that lower the deployment costs of VoiceXML 2.0-compliant solutions.

· Updated support for speech recognition, text to speech, and speaker verification technologies from ScanSoft and Nuance, which enable developers to use Envox 6 to create advanced speech-enabled solutions.

· Support for Web services, including the SOAP, XML, and WSDL protocols, which simplifies the integration of voice solutions with enterprise applications.

· Support for Intel® NetStructure™ Host Media Processing (HMP) version 1.1 which enables voice solutions to be deployed on general-purpose Intel® based servers, not specialized telephony hardware, and, therefore, reduces total cost of ownership for voice solutions.

· The Envox Alarm Center, a notification mechanism with a graphical user interface, that simplifies administration by detecting error conditions and alerting administrators.

"Envox Worldwide shares our vision of a modular, standards-based network architecture for voice solutions," said Sandra Rivera, director of marketing, Network Building Block Division, Intel Corporation. "Envox's extensive support for standards is evident by the inclusion of the Intel HMP software, which helps lower deployment barriers by making voice solutions more affordable and more compatible with today's IT infrastructures."

Steve Chambers, President of SpeechWorks, a division of ScanSoft added, “With its comprehensive support for the SpeechWorks product line and its rapid development capabilities, Envox 6 significantly reduces the cost of developing and deploying voice solutions. Their support for VoiceXML and other leading communications standards enables speech developers to create virtually any type of speech-enabled communications solution.”

"The Envox Communications Development platform is critical to the success of our business because it dramatically reduces our development and deployment time and gives us the flexibility to create the wide range of IVR and speech-based solutions our customers demand," said Peter Edel, Professional Services Manager at Ascom SA-NV, a systems integrator that has standardized on the Envox platform. "With support for Web services and enhanced VoiceXML capabilities, Envox 6 will make it even easier for us to integrate with existing IT environments and enterprise applications."

“Our competitive advantage lies in our unique ability to highly personalize our hosted, interactive alerts and notifications services or our customers. Since our inception, we have relied on the Envox platform for the development speed and flexibility we require,” said Vytas Kisielius, President of Adeptra, providers of 2-Way alerts that notify customers of time-critical events on any device, no matter where they are, and allow them to respond to the events there and then. “The new features in Envox 6 will enable us to introduce service enhancements faster than ever before.”

Envox 6 also includes a number of additional features, such as support for subroutines, libraries, structures, SQL pooling and event queuing, that provide developers with greater programming flexibility and allow for voice solutions to be created and debugged more quickly.

“Envox Worldwide is dedicated to creating an enduring competitive advantage for our customers by including the widest range of new functionality, enabling technology and emerging standards into our development platform on an ongoing basis,” concluded Mark D. Flanagan, President and COO of Envox Worldwide. “We believe that the introduction of Envox 6 is an important step for our customers and the voice solutions market.”
