dynamicsoft Chief Technology Officer Jonathan Rosenberg Appointed to Internet Architecture Board

Parsippany, NJ – February 19, 2004 – dynamicsoft, the leading provider of carrier-class presence infrastructure for subscriber-aware communications networks, today announced that Dr. Jonathan Rosenberg, dynamicsoft chief technology officer, was appointed to the Internet Architecture Board (IAB) for a two-year term, beginning March 2004.

The IAB is a committee within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. Comprised of 13 Internet experts, the IAB is the technical body tasked with providing oversight of the architecture, protocols and procedures used by the Internet. The IAB is also responsible for editorial management and publication of the Request for Comments (RFC) document series, and for administration of Internet-assigned numbers. The IAB also acts as a source of advice and guidance to the Internet Society concerning technical, architectural, procedural and policy matters pertaining to the Internet and its enabling technologies.

“Jonathan has an incredible track record for producing high-quality, highly-relevant, and very successful technologies within the IETF,” said Jon Peterson of the Strategic Technology Initiatives group at NeuStar and co-director for the IETF’s Transport Area. “He is extremely well-respected and has been one of the primary influencers for the direction of SIP-related work in the IETF. I’m glad that he has been appointed to the IAB and I am sure he will contribute even more to the industry in that role.”

Dr. Rosenberg is responsible for numerous specifications produced by the IETF. He is co-author of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), now widely deployed on the Internet for multimedia communications for both wireless and fixed networks. He is the inventor and co-author of the SIMPLE (SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions) specifications, which add presence and instant messaging capabilities to SIP. Some of his other contributions to the Internet include STUN (Simple Traversal of UDP through NAT), SigComp (Signaling Compression), and XCAP (the XML Configuration Access Protocol). He is currently chair of the IP telephony working group and a member of the Transport Area Directorate. He formerly served as co-chair of the SIP working group.

"The Internet continues to have an enormous impact on many industries, especially the telecommunications sector,” said Jonathan Rosenberg chief technology officer at dynamicsoft. “Its evolving architecture and its ability to support future applications is more important now than ever. The IAB plays a pivotal role in guiding the Internet’s architecture and in preserving its ability to grow. I am honored to have been elected to its membership.”

Dr. Rosenberg has authored more than 20 patents and publications on topics ranging from Internet telephony and SIP to multimedia conferencing and instant messaging. In June 2002, Technology Review, MIT’s Magazine of Innovation, recognized Jonathan as one of the world’s 100 top young innovators whose innovative work in business and technology has a profound impact on today’s world. He has also received the 2000 VON Pioneers Award from pulver.com for his groundbreaking work as co-creator of SIP.

In his former position as a key research scientist with Lucent Technologies Bell Labs’ High-Speed Networks Research Department, Jonathan led the research and development of Internet telephony services, architectures and protocols. His breadth of experience includes video compression, RTP and media transport, service creation, signaling, service discovery, multicast, QoS, XML and architectures for Internet telephony.

Dr. Rosenberg received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from MIT, and his Ph.D. at Columbia University under the supervision of Professor Henning Schulzrinne, who is himself a former member of the IAB.
