VocalData Announces Compatibility With Seven New IP Phones

VocalData, Inc., an application developer of hosted IP telephony solutions, today announced compatibility with seven new IP phones. With this announcement, VocalData, the only IP telephony application developer to support the four protocols (SIP, MGCP, SCCP, and MiNet), now supports nearly 30 different IAD and IP phone models, thus continuing its leadership in supporting a wider variety of endpoints than any other hosted IP telephony application developer.

“One continuing barrier to the adoption of IP Centrex is the lack of selection in end user devices – because most IP telephony application servers support only a limited number of phone protocols,” said Mark Whittier, vice president of corporate marketing. “As the only hosted IP telephony developer to support the four predominant IP phone protocols, VocalData expands options for both service providers and their enterprise customers by maintaining interoperability with the widest variety of IP phones available today – from more affordable versions to high-end, high-functionality models.”

The new phones now supported by VocalData include:

Ø Three new Cisco phones from the company’s most recent IP phone releases, including the 7912, the 7905 and the 7902 models, all based on the SCCP protocol;

Ø Three Japanese SIP phones from the manufacturers Polypix, Hitachi and Nakayo; and

Ø The IP Blue VTGO-PC Lite Softphone, based on the SCCP protocol.

The Cisco lower-priced phone models help service providers and their end customers reduce the cost of their VoIP deployments, thus lowering the barriers to market entry. The Polypix, Hitachi and Nakayo phones are specifically designed for customers using VocalData solutions in Japan, a number that is growing quickly due to VocalData’s successful partnership with NTT COMWARE, which has seen more than 25,000 lines deployed in 10 live service provider and enterprise networks.

The IP Blue Softphone is an ideal option for businesses with many mobile workers, because it allows travelers to take a laptop into a hotel room, log onto a Web portal via remote VOISS and make and receive calls across the in-room high-speed Internet connection – just as if they were at their desk. Telecommuters can use the phones in a similar manner using their high-speed connections at home.

VocalData is the only provider of IP Centrex and hosted PBX applications to support four critical IP telephony protocols: SIP, MGCP, SCCP and MiNet. SIP is widely viewed as the protocol for tomorrow’s enhanced applications, while MGCP, SCCP and MiNet are common protocols among installed IP phones today.
