Jasomi Demonstrates Session Control And Support For MS VoIP Platform

Jasomi Networks demonstrated its newly enabled session control and network boundary traversal support for Microsoft’s Live Communications Server VoIP platform. The new capabilities in Jasomi’s PeerPoint line of VoIP network boundary solutions enables a wide variety of deployment scenarios for Microsoft customers looking to enable service across existing security barriers such as firewalls. PeerPoint can also allow Microsoft’s Live Communications Server to be deployed in an Internet-facing scenario so that public users and remote corporations can securely interact over the ‘Net.

Capabilities that Jasomi provides for customers deploying Live Communications Server include:

- near-end NAT and firewall traversal, so that LCS can be deployed behind the security of a corporate firewall

- far-end NAT and firewall traversal, so that remote users can make use of LCS even when they themselves are behind NAT-enabled firewalls

- Security transcoding, so that VoIP devices that use UDP, TCP, and TLS can co-exist in an LCS network

- Mid-call media encryption, so that LCS calls can be encrypted when they travel over insecure networks, while still interoperating with non-encrypting equipment (such as PSTN gateways) on a secure network

- Intrusion prevention, so that Internet connectivity can be maintained while limiting the ability of an attacker to use VoIP to penetrate the LCS network

“We’re very pleased that Jasomi has been able to enhance their product to support LCS,” said Ed Simnett, Lead Product Manager in Microsoft’s Real-Time Collaboration Group. “As customers find new and innovative ways of deriving value from LCS, we look forward to working closely with Jasomi to support the broadest possible array of deployment scenarios.”

Jasomi’s PeerPoint product line has been providing solutions to complex VoIP deployment scenarios for the last 2 years, and is widely used by both enterprise and service provider customers. The new support for Microsoft’s LCS underscores the commitment that Jasomi has made to support customers deploying best of breed solutions with advanced voice, video, instant messaging, and presence capabilities.

“Microsoft has entered the field with a high-functionality, high-security product that blends well into the existing corporate IT infrastructure,” said Dan Freedman, CEO of Jasomi Networks. “Jasomi has worked hard over the last few months to ensure that we have a high level of support for Microsoft’s implementation of SIP, including the more advanced features that are not always present on other servers.”
