PUMATECH’S INTELLISYNC: goANYWHERE SOFTWARE PROVIDES REAL-TIME REMOTE ACCESS TO PERSONAL COMPUTERS

Pumatech, Inc., a leading provider of synchronization software and services, today announced the availability of its new Intellisync: goAnywhere software, an innovative package that easily allows users with Web-enabled devices - a laptop PC, mobile phone* or personal digital assistant (PDA) - to remotely access Microsoft Outlook information and files that reside on their desktop computer, including e-mail, contacts, tasks, calendars and documents.

Intellisync: goAnywhere is an easy-to-use application that enhances users’ ability to take advantage of the increasingly powerful capabilities of mobile phones and PDAs, minimizing the need to take a laptop computer on the road or to use multiple devices for multiple tasks.
Intellisync: goAnywhere sells for an annual subscription fee of $99.95, and is available through authorized Pumatech retailers and from the Pumatech Web Store at www.pumatech.com.

“Intellisync: goAnywhere aligns with Pumatech’s long-standing mission to provide easy access to information and keep people in sync,” said Philip Gilbert, director of product management, enterprise markets for Pumatech. “Its ability to provide easy, remote access to information and files located on a host PC creates a virtual digital briefcase - essentially, a mobile office that resides in users’ pockets.”

Users install Intellisync: goAnywhere on their host computer, which connects to Pumatech’s Intellisync: goAnywhere server. The Intellisync: goAnywhere server provides a Web-based interface to information on the host PC, creating an experience similar to that of common PIM applications. When users want remote access to PIM information or specific PC files, they simply log onto the Intellisync: goAnywhere server from any Web-enabled device.

Intellisync: goAnywhere lets users stay productive while on the go, with the ability to respond to email using a Palm OS- or Pocket PC-compatible PDA, access work documents from a home computer, or one-touch-dial any Outlook-based contact from a cell phone. All of this can be done live, without the need for synchronization. Intellisync: goAnywhere even promotes collaboration by enabling users to access and share files - including calendars - with co-workers.

Intellisync: goAnywhere fulfills a wide range of user needs. It offers a compelling solution for business professionals who usually work from home but require access to e-mail and desktop files when on the road. With Intellisync: goAnywhere, professionals can send e-mails with attachments and access files that reside on their home computer, using only their Web-enabled PDA.

Intellisync: goAnywhere also has a variety of unique applications. Take, for example, a user stuck in traffic en route to a client meeting. He needs to call his client to inform him of the delay, but remembers that he placed his notebook PC and PDA in the car trunk - making them temporarily inaccessible. To complicate matters further, the user didn’t have time to store his client’s phone number on his mobile phone. Intellisync: goAnywhere provides a quick solution to this dilemma. Instead of having to call his secretary or “411” to get the client’s phone number, the user can simply utilize his cell phone both to access his Microsoft Outlook contact database from his office PC, and to dial his client with the touch of a button.

Intellisync: goAnywhere delivers these capabilities while emphasizing security. The product provides secure remote access with 128-bit end-to-end encryption, doesn’t expose any open ports on the user’s PC, and doesn’t store information anywhere on Pumatech’s Intellisync: goAnywhere servers.

"The widespread adoption of mobile computing, both in business and consumer settings, has placed new demands on the accessibility of information," said Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies. "Users now expect and desire the ability to access their personal and business information when on the road or even out on the town. With solutions like Pumatech's, essential information such as email and PIM data is now accessible in real-time from a variety of different devices - even mobile phones. These types of solutions are fulfilling an important market demand that will only continue to grow with the proliferation of wireless and mobile devices."
