Motion Computing Unveils Motion View Anywhere Display For Indoor/Outdoor Tablet PC Use

Motion Computing unveiled the Motion View Anywhere Display, which offers a unique capability for tablet PC users who want an indoor-viewable screen equally suited for outdoor use.

The bright 12.1-inch XGA indoor-outdoor display is based on optical enhancement technology initially developed for high-end marine, GPS and military applications. The View Anywhere option provides uncompromised indoor and outdoor viewing without sacrificing battery life - a combination of user benefits unique in the tablet PC market.

"The new View Anywhere technology is a major step forward for ultramobile computing in virtually any low-light or bright-light environment, and everything in between," said David Altounian, Motion's chief product officer. "This is Motion's innovative response to the many potential customers -- ranging from government and the military to insurance and field sales -- who told us they need 'ubiquitous viewing' on a tablet PC."

According to Mike Conley, president of Conley Insurance Group Inc., Des Peres, Mo., "The uncompromised viewability of Motion's new display technology is a must-have feature for people like me who work in both indoor and outdoor settings."

"With innovative features like View Anywhere technology, Motion Computing continues to expand the versatility of the tablet PC platform," said Robert Williams, Microsoft's group manager of tablet PC business development.

Motion Computing - a top-tier tablet PC maker with an almost 6 percent share of the worldwide market - specializes in lightweight, slate-style products featuring electronic stylus "pens" as the primary input device. The View Anywhere display option is the company's latest innovation. Motion designed the industry's first hardtop keyboard, was first with a slate tablet PC powered by Intel® Centrino® mobile technology, and was first in its market with a 12.1-inch display.

The Motion View Anywhere display is priced as a $349.99 option on any Motion M1300 powered by Intel Centrino mobile technology. It is scheduled to be available later this month in the U.S., Canada and the UK, and the first quarter of 2004 in Ireland, Germany, France, Austria Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
