United Package Liquors Nows Accepts BioPay; First in Indiana to Offer Biometric Payments

INDIANAPOLIS --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 27, 2005 -- Indianapolis residents can now conveniently and securely pay for purchases with just their finger at United Package Liquors using technology from biometric payments leader BioPay, LLC. The service is the first of its kind in any retail store in Indiana. Launched at their two of their 17 stores across the area, United Package Liquors chose to implement BioPay to give their check writing, credit and debit card customers a faster checkout and greater convenience when making a purchase. To encourage rapid enrollment and usage, all customers who enroll in BioPay at the Indiana locations from Oct. 31st through December 23, 2005 will be automatically entered into a bi-weekly drawing for a $25 United Package Liquors gift card.

"We are providing our customers with the most secure payment method available and at the same time speeding up the checkout process for them," says Brad Rider, President and CEO of United Package Liquors. "With BioPay payments, consumer convenience is up and our costs are down. BioPay costs us 70 percent less than process credit or debit card transaction, and we can pass that savings along to the consumer."

BioPay, a biometric transaction company, is the market leader for biometric payment systems with the most advanced technology and highest enrollment, with two million enrolled customers and processing transactions in excess of $7 billion. The BioPay system uses a person's unique finger image and their chosen BioPay number (usually a phone number) to authorize a secured debit direct from their checking account. The one-time enrollment can be completed at any merchant that offers the biometric payment service and the entire process takes less than two minutes. Once enrolled, the customer can purchase in seconds with their finger at any BioPay payment location across the United States. The BioPay service is free to the consumer.

Tim Robinson, President of BioPay, agrees, "We congratulation United Package Liquors in bringing the future of payments to Indiana by offering their customers the most convenient and secure way to pay. We believe that retailers pay too much in credit and debit card fees and BioPay solves that problem. With low flat fee per transaction pricing, BioPay is dramatically less expensive than Visa's typical two percent fee to merchants."

BioPay is installed coast to coast, serving a broad range of merchants from owner-operated single locations to larger chains most frequented by today's busy consumers including grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, beverage stores and other lifestyle retailers.
