T3 Develops Dining-On-Demand Maturity Model to Score Restaurant Brands

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- T3, the Austin-based innovation agency, today launched the Dining-On-Demand Maturity Model that scores restaurants on their ability to deliver online ordering, online delivery and other digital customer experience enhancements. The first report ranked the top 50 restaurants with Panera  Bread, Domino's and Pizza Hut sitting atop the model.

T3’s Dining-On-Demand Maturity Model ranks the top 50 national quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands (based on revenue) for on-demand customer experiences, including online ordering, third-party delivery, and loyalty programs. With an average score of 2.24, it's clear many restaurants have several opportunities to meet changing customer expectations in the world of on-demand dining.

The Dining-On-Demand Maturity Model factors in a restaurant's online delivery capabilities, mobile app, loyalty program, the ability to save favorites, and other experience enhancements to generate a 0-5 score. Industry leaders like Panera Bread and Domino's scored 4. The average score was 2.24. Restaurant brands canevaluate their own maturity by answering six simple questions at https://www.t-3.com/modern-restaurant-report/quiz.

"The restaurant industry is on the cusp of a delivery revolution," said Ben Gaddis, T3 President. "Brands are making strides and setting the pace to satisfy consumers' delivery needs, but many are falling behind. Our Dining-On-Demand Maturity Model brings together insights T3 has compiled for years to give any brand an understanding of where they rate and how they can improve."

In the first report, T3 ran its analysis on the world's largest quick service restaurant (QSR) brands by annual revenue and ranked the top 50. Of all categories ranked, pizza restaurants rated the highest with an average of 3.25. Burger restaurants ranked the lowest at 1.77.

Delivery and digital ordering have been growing faster than dine-in traffic, with NPD Group reporting that nearly 50 percent of dinners purchased from restaurants are consumed at home. This trend is expected to continue as consumers increasingly order their favorite foods to be delivered or to-go and online food-delivery platforms expand choice and convenience. Research from Mintel revealed that 87 percent of Americans who use third-party food delivery services agree that it makes their lives easier, and nearly one third (31 percent) say they use these services at least twice a week.

The Dining-On-Demand Maturity Model is the latest T3 report that identifies consumer trends related to consumer experience and brands. The Modern Loyalty Report highlighted T3's approach to loyalty that uses a combination of modern thinking, architecture, and execution. The Useful Brand Report ranked 100 brands by usefulness and identified opportunities for growth.
